Ready to laugh, learn, and maybe tear up a little? In our last episode of the year, my long-time friend, Dawn Richardson of Tech Savvy Creative, takes over hosting duties! Together we dive deep on my highlights of 2024: from the best to the not-so-best investments, celebrating meaningful milestones, and sharing honest lessons learned from a year of growth in both business and life. Whether you’re navigating your own season of growth or just looking for a little encouragement to wrap up your year, this episode is packed with relatable stories, actionable insights, and plenty of laughs.
Best Investment in 2024
This year, my most impactful investment was expanding my team. By bringing on a new right-hand gal, Samantha, I could shift focus and work on what truly matters. Her dedication and ability to grow alongside the business have been instrumental in our success.
Worst Investment in 2024
While there were many victories, I also had some bad investments. The worst investment I made in 2024 was investing in a really mismatched (and bad) conference. You can hear the full recap with Dawn and Akua in episode 158. However, while it wasn’t what we expected, we did use the event and our time together as an opportunity for growth.
Biggest Lesson Learned in 2024
Every single year I am reminded of one of the most important lessons in life and business: Don’t let your ambition overshadow your accomplishments.
Enjoy where you are in the process and stop rushing to get to the end result. So often we get into doing our thing and it’s going great, but then without fail, our ambition and big ideas come up with the next thing.
Staying Organic & Intentional in Your Offerings
This year was one for launches. We kicked off the year with the Creative Educator Conference, which helped us gear up for the launch of the Educator’s Lounge. We immediately had 85 members join, many of which were attendees from the conference. I found it to be so natural and organic to build this membership, as it was what the attendees and others in our community wanted.
If you have a big idea and you want to make it happen, but someone is doubting you, sometimes it’s best to just shut out people’s opinions and advice. Listen to yourself.
Biggest Accomplishment of 2024
We celebrate every accomplishment over here, but if I had to choose, my biggest business accomplishment for this year was launching the Educator’s Lounge. My biggest personal accomplishment was paying off all of my husband’s law school student loans and our car loan.
Big Dreams for 2025
As I go into 2025, I want to make existing offers the very best that they can be. I’d also love to do more smaller in-person events this year.
