Are you considering attending an in-person event, like a workshop, retreat, or conference for your business? If so, there are a few things to consider to make it worth the time and money investment! In today’s episode, I’m sharing what to look for when selecting your in-person event and what to do when you’re there!
The Value of In-Person Events for Your Business
After years of attending in-person events for my business, I’ve found so much value in the education and the connections I’ve gained from them. Whether I was an attendee or a speaker, the effort you pour into the event directly impacts what you take away from it. That’s one reason I’ve launched The Creative Educator Conference! With each and every event that you invest your time and money into, it’s important that you know exactly what you want to gain out of it so that you can make the most out of the experience.
Disclaimer: I’m biased towards in-person events.
Choosing the Right Event for You
The first step in doing this is choosing the right event for your and your business. There are a variety of styles of events, as well as types of education you’ll receive from them in order to decide if it is worth your investment. Here are a few tips to choosing the right conference for you:
Don’t be swayed by Instagram “celebrities.” Rather than looking at who is speaking, look at if the topics are actually going to help you.
Look at if the event is actually targeting an area that you actually need or want to grow in.
Don’t be afraid to buy/invest and don’t be cocky. Set aside a budget for education—no matter your length of experience, you don’t know it all.
When you stop showing up for yourself, you stop growing.
How to Get the Most Out of In-Person Events for Your Business
Once you’ve made the decision to invest in yourself and your business, the next step is to get the most out of your in-person event!
Brainstorm a general idea or goal of what you want to walk away with ahead of time.
Do your research on the event, who’s attending, and make connections.
Be brave and put yourself out there to create connections.
Continue showing up in the lives of the people you connect with.
